S.T.A.R. Grades 5-12 Remedial Program 2010-2011
Altamonte Springs, FL.

The CPA S.T.A.R. (students and teachers achieving results) program is a five day a week (34 week) school that offers an alternative learning environment for students that struggle to learn in a traditional classroom environment. S.T.A.R. student’s share the campus with the Classical School and follow all the same procedures and policies. Our personalized educational approach is the perfect answer for students that learn best in a small group setting.  Students also participate in our Classical School Electives: Art, Drama, Fitness, Computer,  Girl's Basics (Nutrition, Sewing, Crafts and projects), Spanish and Sign-Language.
The mission of the grades 5-12 S.T.A.R. program is to provide a positive, personalized learning environment for students that struggle to learn. This program is designed for students that have good behavior control, are within one-three years of grade level in reading or math but struggle in a regular classroom setting. Students with average intelligence and mild to moderate learning struggles are considered for this program. The S.T.A.R. program is not equipped to accept students with neurological, physical or emotional challenges or students that need therapy or individualized remedial programs. Student’s that need to attend therapy may be dismissed early during enrichment time for therapy or may have their therapist come on-campus. Therapy fees are not included in the tuition for STAR.
S.T.A.R. classes meet the Florida Sunshine State Standards as endorsed by the Department of Education. High School students attending the S.T.A.R. program can graduate from Champion Preparatory Academy with either a regular or career diploma.  Both diplomas options are accepted at colleges across the nation. A certificate of participation is available for a student that can’t complete the required credits for a diploma but has attended four years of school.
The S.T.A.R. program is only able to accept students with good behavior control, students that are academically behind one-three years and have the ability and desire to learn.  We are sorry, but we do not have the staff to accept students with moderate to severe physical or neurological challenges or emotional or behavioral difficulties.
CPA is in full compliance with the Department of Education and accepts the McKay Scholarship for the S.T.A.R. program only.  The McKay Scholarship ends at the age of 22.

CPA S.T.A.R. program offers the ideal setting for a student that needs a more personalized educational program. Students and teachers are kind and considerate of each other, the class is small and individualized so that each student can learn at their own rate. The setting is serene and calm with a small number of students on campus and yet all the advantages of a bigger school.

The key to the success of this program is the constant communication between parents, students and teachers. We encourage parents to visit and communicate with teachers anytime they have questions or concerns.

The S.T.A.R. program offers three levels for the enhancement of student learning:

Level 1 Grades 9-12 –Student’s that are no more than 2 year behind in math or reading and can fully participate in a small group instructional setting. All classes will qualify for regular high school credit. If a student is unable to complete the standard credit, students will be given an exception education credit. Matrix code of 251-252. Teacher student ratio 1:6

Level 2-Grades 6-9 Student’s that are no more than 2 years behind in math or reading and can fully participate in a small group classroom setting with group teaching. Matrix code of 251-252. Teacher student ratio 1:6
